Access/Authentication

"Access Denied"
iPrism may not think it should filter a user for several reasons. More

"Connection Failed"
iPrism isn't able to reach a requested  web server.
More

"Connection Reset"
MAC Firefox users may get this instead of "The Page cannot be Displayed."
More

"Invalid Password"
Check "Caps Lock," special characters, local vs. domain account. More

"Invalid Request"
Likely a badly formed URL, could be a user training issue. More

"Invalid URL"
Likely a badly formed URL, could be a user training issue. More

"iPrism Access Denied"
iPrism has probably become "dis-joined" from the domain controller. More

"The Page cannot be Displayed"
DNS, Browser, or HTTPS can produce this message. DNS will probably affect everyone, Browser & HTTPS are more likely to affect individuals . More

"The requested page is currently unavailable"
A normal iPrism block message, More.  If you should NOT be getting this, you likely have profiling issues, More

"The requested URL could not be retrieved"
Is likely an HTTPS issue. More

"You are not authorized to view this page"
Proxy mode users may get this. More

Users do not get a block page from iPrism
You probably have multiple sub-nets and forgot to setup a Static-Route in iPrism configuration. More

Appliance Manager

Appliance Manager installation 'hangs' on Windows Vista
Use this workaround to get Appliance Manager installed on Vista.

Appliance Manager is not "discovering" any appliances
You're probably trying to "discover" from outside the iPrism subnet.

Auto-Login

IE Auto-Login was working, but is now prompting users
It may be IE's security settings.

Domain Controller

"Joined the domain, but unable to successfully check secrets for 1 minutes!"
You tried to "join" without entering a full domain name. More

"675 Error"
A domain controller error in the event logs that gets mis-interpreted as a problem when it is informational. More

iPrism dis-joining from the Domain Controller
Most common problem is a changed account password. More

Why are AD group changes not being reflected in my group-to-profile mappings?
It is likely an AD replication or iPrism account issue. More

DNS

"Unable to determine IP address from host name"
DNS server or port problem preventing name resolution. More

Filtering

Users are having trouble with HTTPS (i.e., SSL/secure) sites
There are several areas where encryption creates issues. More

Users are incorrectly blocked or allowed
This leads to profile examinations and possible creation of custom filters. More

Users are seeing partial web page content
URL redirects sometimes hit blocked sites, redirecting in "partial" display from the users point of view. More

FilterList

"Error 102 - iPrism Filter List Outdated"
Most likely an expired subscription or IUS server connectivity problem. More

"Filter service expired"
Likely an expired subscription. More

"iPrism List Update"
Not to worry ... this is just a transient informational message. More

"List Update Failure"
Ok, worry ... this one indicates inability to download filter-list for 3 days or more. More

Performance

What can I check to optimize performance?
Here's a quick list of ideas. More

Reporting

Report Sorting or Drilldown are not doing what I expect
This typically indicates a mis-understanding of how Sorting/Drilldown actually work. More

Why do Reports show IP instead of Username for HTTPS Requests?
This is due to HTTPS protocol and session management. More

Why do Reports username-only instead of Domain\Username?
This is due to Proxy-Mode without Auto-Login. More

Why do Reports NOT show the URL for HTTPS Requests?
In a word, encryption. More

"Unable to Receive Real-Time Events"
This RTM message indicates a needed port is blocked.
More

My ERS (Enterprise Reporting Server) isn't reporting on my iPrisms
One or more iPrism units are probably not configured to
upload data to ERS yet. More

Unable to access RTM (Real-Time Monitor)
You must be logged in as user "iprism" to access RTM.
More

I configured authentication but don't see usernames in my reports
You probably just forgot to enable authentication (with a checkbox) for your networks.

System

"Can't find Kernal"
Your Model 3000 needs a BIOS reset.
